Rec: RED (movie)

No, seriously here comes my first movie rec in ages and I think it was worth the wait.
Can I say B-r-u-c-e W-i-l-l-i-s!
Helen yes-she-is-a-queen Mirren.
Morgan Freeman, lady's and gentleman.
And crazy as goat John Malkovich.
Last but not least Karl Urban one of our favourite kiwis.
These are (some of) the awesome cast of a blast of movie called RED - Retired Extremely Dangerous.
The movie knocks you of your feet, it is very cool, has hot action and is very funny.
I loved to watch it!
Not a second boring, the characters are great and you see with how much passion each one of them is played. It is not just crash-boom-bang, it certainly has brilliant momentas of these, but it also has the quieter scenes where the actors can show what they got and that the plot is really good and not just an excuse to blow things up. But I have to confess that seeing Helen Mirren plus heavy artillery alone is amazing. You can't believe it! Such fun!
And Bruce Willis, I love the guy. This tongue in cheek acting not just him but the whole movie...

It is always so difficult to write rec's. To write and explain the "why" something is great and you liked it.
So I say just this, watch it you won't be disappointed.
A great movie on a rainy day or for DVD evening with a bunch of friends.
It kicks ass!
Here is the plot in short:
Retirement is not puppies and roses for everyone.
But suddenly the frustrated retired ex-CIA agent Moses gets a unexpected visit at home from killer commando.
Why now and who sent them? So instead of having a chance for a nice first date, he now has to kidnap his only connection to normal life and starts digging up old friends/enemies and former colleagues to go to the bottom of everything. The Cold-War-Veterans soon find themselves in the middle of a conspirancy where someone likes to have the past kept buried and them to buried six-feet deep with it.
They maybe retired and older but they won't lay back and die quietly!
