Academy, wtf?
So, we all knew Daniel Day-Lewis and Javier Bardem were going to win their respective Oscars, I just feel it for Johnny Depp (who was awesome in Sweeney Todd, though I would have been really surprised if he won this year) and Viggo Mortesen (who I've heard was totally awesome in "Eastern Promises") , oh well, I didn't see their respective movies, so I can't really tell.
But I've seen "Elisabeth" ,and I've seen "Sweeney Todd"...
Costume design for "Elisabeth"? "Sweeney Todd" deserved it so much better! I loved Elisabeth, but Sweeney's costumes were all made from scratch, designed for each character's personality and role in the movie. The "Elisabeth" cast looked... stiff :S (and I've read a couple of re-enactors reviews where they heavily criticise the costume design)
AND I've seen "Ratatouille"... and I've seen "Persepolis"
Seriously, people, wtf.
Ratatouille was nice, and funny, a family flick. But Persepolis was SO MUCH MORE! the story, the animation design, the music... I cannot believe that a movie about a child growing up between her homeland (Iran) and Europe, where she has to face laguaje and racial barriers, who fights between her traditions and the freedom she tastes in Occident. A movie which was 2D drawn, frame by frame, where the professionals trained a group of young artists to animate and clean-line. A movie based on an autobio-graphic-novel (That is, a huge comic-book) of a girl who grew up in war, religious dictatorship and spent her teen-hood trying to be accepted in a place where everyone feared her. A movie about life and freedom... was beaten up bit a story of rat who travels to Paris and becomes the best cook in the world, 3D.
I don't know why, but I saw it comming.

Sorry if someone doesn't agree with this, I'm not in good humours and I'm finding very difficult to express myself in English, which shouldn't be happening. Crap.
