Uplifting Art: Bras for a Cause

Oct 30, 2009 23:15

I need your help.  I know for a fact the most creative people I know are on my friends lists here, there, and other places...but more of you are here than other places (even though almost nobody visits or posts since Fetlife came online.....)

So...my coworkers and I have launched one of the coolest projects EVER, on behalf of  A Woman's Touch:  it's an Art Bra contest and charity auction to benefit ABCD: After Breast Cancer Diagnosis.

Details (and pictures, because I can't seem to manage to upload them here) are at www.awomanstouchonline.com/upliftingart.php -- but the short version is...decorate a bra in any artistic creative way you like, give it a theme and either lend, or donate it to the Uplifting Art project.

We'll display the best of the submissions (probably about 30-50) during Gallery Night and Day at our store in the Historic Third Ward, Milwaukee...and open those that were donated up for silent auction.  All proceeds go to ABCD, a peer mentoring organization for people with breast cancer and their families and loved ones, that offers its services from Milwaukee to anybody who has a phone.

Right now, we desperately need a few early entries that we can use for display, media/PR, and brochures.  All the artwork we are using to illustrate the concept is borrowed (with gratitude) from the Anne Arundel County, Maryland Department of Health Cup of the Month Challenge...but we'd like to be able to point to some of the work of our clients, customers and friends.

Artists?  Crafters? Creatives of all kinds, including groups, businesses and organizations are welcome.  Any medium is acceptable (so long as we don't have to refrigerate or feed it), though if it's really out of the ordinary in size, scope or material, we'd appreciate a heads up to make sure we can manage it.

Anybody??  Google "Art Bras" or "Anne Arundel Cup of the Month" for some wonderful examples of the creative range of things you can do with a bra....

I hope to see your brilliance at work for a good cause!
