Name one thing about human nature that puzzles you.
The biggest puzzle I’ve encountered is how humans have such difficulty accepting anyone even slightly different from themselves or anything even remotely outside their limited little world view.
I don’t need to repeat all the issues people have had with me over the years. All the names I’ve been called. All the torment I’ve endured. All because I happened to have been born green. It doesn’t make me any less of a person. But there’s no convincing them of that.
But moreso, I think of the Wizard. How threatened he was by how things were in our world. The Animals… They never did a thing to him. But because they could talk, and because people did listen to them, he was threatened and had them silenced. And those that still had a voice became too afraid to speak. And they forgot how. All of them, silenced.
Not that many Ozians listened to them anyway, but still. They deserved a voice as much as anyone else did. Only the Wizard got scared.
That’s what I don’t understand. How humans are so afraid of anything outside of their narrow little worlds.
