Blood Is Thicker Than Water And Much Tastier >D

To place where my mind has been the last week or more; plz do read my horoscope for this Tuesday past.

AQUARIUS (Jan. 20 - Feb. 19)

If you had to choose a yoga pose for the day, it would be Child Pose - lying with you forehead on the floor and your arms behind you , trusting yourself to the benign forces of a gentle Universe.

L.M.F.A.O.

Yea, like waiting for an execution. XD

Considering the recent Bleach chapter "The Eyes of The Victor" (thx Syn! <3) I'm in a great fucking mood. I survived the last week thanks mostly to The Daily Show and Adult Swim. AMEN.

WE ARE HAVING HOT LESBIAN SEX - BY LESBIAN SEX WE MEAN TEA, BUT IT'S STILL HOT

My horrible state (which mostly involved a lot of sleeping) was triggered by an awful column in a local newspaper (in an insert Womens' magazine no less) about an evangelical minster who had published a book called "From Lesbianism To Grace" - GUESS WHAT IT WAS ABOUT? 8D

I spent the entire day giving my ulcer a work-out and sending a mental email to the editors.

But I wasn't able to come online cause doom was upon me!

So to distract myself from thoughts of social anarchy and plans to fire-bomb the local telecommunications company - I read.

"Crispin" - Avi

I saw this book on sale and was all happy, I didn't look inside, I didn't even realise the bloody author had only one name. It's a Childrens' Book really, but set in the middle ages, so if was not terrible or anything. Just very MIDDLE AGES. :D

It also made me slightly bitter because of assholes who like to pretend things were fabulous in the 1900's and government's were 'small'. And other assholes who think WOMEN SHOULDN'T BE ALLOWED TO VOTE CAUSE THEY'RE TOO EMOTIONAL/ LIBERAL.

How these people manage to get through life without being horribly murdered in their sleep is beyond me.

Srsly. They must have wives or mothers, bitches need to get on that.

Since I had already committed to YA stuff I read the first book of the Pendragon series. It's from D.J. MacHale who was a writer for great Nickelodeon series like "Are You Afraid of The Dark" & "Ghostwriter", so I was stoked.

It was fun...I guess. Kinda like "Stargate" with dimension hopping, and only moderately annoying cause while the main protagonist Bobby is clearly a douche, he's not frickin' Harry Bloody Potter.

Bobby also knows he's a douche, so it saves the trouble really.

(It was only the first of ten though. HA!)

IT ALSO MADE ME FEEL REALLY FUCKING OLD.

I had only been getting further depressed, and my horoscope suggested I read one of my fav books, that I always keep around. I was in the mood for "Life Of Pi" by Yann Martel, but I don't have a copy, so I just re-read "The Story of A Ship-Wrecked Sailor" by Marques - cause winner winner sharks think you're tasty.

Watched the award for this year's Man Booker Prize, cause that's always good, and J.M Coetzee was nominated (<3). Adam Fould's "The Quickening Maze" also looked nice. It went to a historical fiction novel though.

I had picked up "Olive Kitteridge" by Elizabeth Strout earlier this year, it had won a Pulitzer, and I had read Strout's "Amy and Isabelle", so I read that next -

LET ME SAY FIRST - I DON'T REC THIS BOOK.

I HATED IT.

I WANT MY MONEY BACK ACTUALLY, BUT I THINK I WOULD JUST AS SOON PUT IT IN THE BURN PILE.

Ok, it was well-written. It's a book of short stories, which in some way help to construct the image of Olive Kitteridge in the readers' mind. I liked the tales with less Olive best.

I HATED Olive. While she's shown being sympathetic to FUCKING STRANGERS, her own family carry the scars of her bitterness and abuse.

She starts out with a HUGE CHIP on her shoulder cause life IS FILLED WITH DISAPPOINTMENT. The way she whines about her situation in acid tones, one would think she was stuck in "Angela's Ashes" or something.

Supposedly, she undergoes personal growth and realisation. That's not what I got from this book at all - she doesn't grow, she merely moves forward. As we all do.

Also the book ends with OLD PEOPLE SEXIN' - *blargh* YES. Not even a real ending.

AND THEN - There are pages of discussion material, with an interview between the author, Olive and the interviewer. And -

I WANTED TO HURL THE BOOK INTO THE SUN.

Then I realised that I was probably not old enough to appreciate the depth of experience or something. @_@
