I'm a hermit. I'm serious, I live in my head and I don't leave it very often. I gave up on the news a long time ago, when I stopped being able to deal with the insanity in the world. It worries me that I'm such a selfish child.
I didn't know there was a earthquake in Peru.
A major one that shook the entire country and Chile also. It measured 7.9 on the Richter scale and lasted over a minute. This is the
BBC news report, and an article from
The NY Times. Hundreds are dead, and thousands more are homeless, entire cities have been turned into rubble. Relief efforts are slow because of the complete loss of infrastructure, and because they are still experiencing aftershocks.
I learnt about this surprisingly not from any environment, news or humanitarian comm I happen to be in, but from the
ichi_ruki comm.
kisa_14 who is from Peru, posted her
story.
Is it weird that I find some glaring irony in this?
If u read this please send ur prayers, thoughts and wishes to those in Peru, that they receive help, that they find more survivors.
