Hit And Miss - 500 words
“What is wrong with you?!” Natalia bursts into Olivia’s Beacon room.
“Excuse me?”
“Blake said that Lillian said that you were down at the hospital getting tests.”
“Of course she did,” Olivia rolls her eyes.
“So what’s wrong?”
“Nothing! Absolutely nothing. I’m perfectly fine,” she growls.
“You’re fine?”
“Yes. My vision’s 20/20, distance perception is accurate. I’ve got perfect hand-eye co-ordination, reflexes are sharp. Even my damn ECG is looking better!”
Natalia watches her pace back and forth, hands balled up into fists.
“If everything’s fine, they why are you in such a state?”
“Because I keep missing your mouth!” Olivia snaps.
“You what?”
Olivia takes a breath.
“Look, Natalia. You say you love me, you say you choose me. And I believe you. I do. You say you want it all, you say you’re sick of waiting. And yet every time I try to kiss you...”
Natalia’s eyes are wide. And Olivia’s heart sinks.
“Oh my God,” Natalia finally utters, taking a step forward. “You noticed that too!”
“Noticed? You mean it’s not just me?”
“No! Isn’t it infuriating? Every time I think we’re about to kiss - nothing happens!”
“It’s been driving me crazy!”
“Me too. Because I really want to kiss you,” Natalia admits, her eyes dropping to Olivia’s full mouth.
“You do?”
They move closer.
“Uh huh.”
And dimples are all Olivia can see until finally, she’s kissing Natalia’s... forehead?!?
They both pull back, confused.
“Uh, let’s try that again,” Olivia grins, until she somehow mistakes Natalia’s ear for her mouth. “Okay, I expected it to be different, but this is ridiculous!”
“You’re not giving up on me?” brown eyes plead.
“Wouldn’t dream of it,” she replies before ending up with a mouthful of Natalia’s hair.
Meanwhile, in another reality...
A man in a suit sits at his desk watching the two women on a small screen. Every time their lips are about to meet, he puts his foot down, and the kiss doesn’t eventuate.
He’s too busy laughing at their confused little faces to notice the abseiling ropes that have dropped past his window, or the purple figures that have descended behind him.

Wrapped only in each other and a tangle of sheets, Olivia and Natalia sigh, both happy and sated.
“Well I think I finally found your mouth,” Olivia quirks.
“I think you finally found a lot of places.”
Natalia is just glowing.
“I hit the spot, huh?”
“Oh honey, you hit it twice.” She blushes a little.
Olivia raises an eyebrow.
“They say three’s a charm...”
And they lose themselves in each other for the rest of the afternoon.
Meanwhile, in another reality...
A man in a suit sits gagged and bound in the corner of his office, his feet strategically placed behind his head. He tries to get the attention of passing co-workers, but they neither see nor hear him.
How ironic.
The sweat on his brow is leaking purple ink into his eyes, from bold letters stamped onto his forehead: BPA FTW!
