Severus peered from the aisle he was in into the one beside him with a raised eyebrow; looking to the man who'd shouted his desperate plea. He ran his tongue over his bottom lip before he spoke. For him, talking was a performance in itself and he was never one to speak needlessly when there was nothing important to say.

He looked at the man and evaluated him immediately, deciding how exactly he would go about answering the man's question.

Snape was, in fact, standing behind the other man and thus he cleared his throat to get the man's attention.

"No history exists because the city isn't real, its geography is impossible, it's location completely unknown, and it's improbable that people from different origins, different times, and different--I don't fancy using this word but, perhaps, 'worlds' would all stumble upon a...an actual place, hm?"

Howl jumped a bit. He had not expected anyone to be in the building let alone behind him, but that was a silly assumption he realy needed to pay attention more, if this man had been the Witch of the Waste he would be done with.

"Why not worlds?" Howl got up and turned around with a flare that only someone who spent time practicing how to impress people could pull off. "Oh wait, I bet your one of the other people who don't believe in multiple realities, your probably all about science and other boring things," he gave a deep sigh shaking his head. "Why am I surounded by such depressing circumstances?"

"It isn't that I disbelieve in the existence of alternative realities." His eyes flickered to the other man's and he smirked. "It's more the fact that there is quite an unsettling theory going around and I've met more then a few persons who seem to support it's plausibility. Are you aware that there are persons who under any other circumstance I would consider fictitious wandering the streets of this 'real' city?"

"Really?" Howl spoke with actual interest. "I did not know that, though I did meet a girl who was a historical figure," he thought about this for a moment. He wondered if all worlds had books in another world somewhere. "Well I know there are other worlds out there, I was living in one before I walked out my door and found myself here," he paused a moment this person seamed a bit more... together on what was happening at least.

"Do you have a name? No doubt you will be from frighteningly similar but completely different place than what I know.." he muttered the last bit.

"Thus far, I've met a few interesting people myself." His lip curled in slight distaste. "Including, and much to my chagrin, two individuals whom I know all two well as they are from my own--to avoid argument 'world'."

Snape took an almost regal step forward. "My name is Severus Snape, and what would one call you?"

A funny name, he had the good sense to not share his opinion. Something told him this was the sort of man to dwell on unpleasantness. Howl felt a bit glad that the other person from his world wasn't so bad, oh a bit hard headed sure but at least it wasn't his enemy. The way Serverus spoke it sounded as if the other people were not people he cared for.

"It's a pleasure Serverus," a smile crossed his lips and he offered a hand to shake. "I generally go by Howl, may I ask you a bit about your world? Simply so I can try to understand some things..." and the fact that he didn't want to accidentally scare someone witless again.

"Well, as I don't know how mine differs from your own I will simply tell you of myself." He sighed. "The year is nineteen-ninety four; I was born in sixty and I am the current Potions professor at a school in England called Hogwarts. Hogwarts is a boarding school for witches ans wizards, so that they might learn the properties and art of various forms of magic."

Oh the future and a wizard! ... from England!? Now that was interesting. It made him think of the little blond boy. "My my, another similar yet different place. I think I shall never get used to it. At least you are a magic person, I don't want to deal too much with people who are scared by it. The date I left was 1986, and I honestly have never heard of any schools for magic in England or anywhere nearby."

He decided to make a shot in the dark, why not? It was worth a try. "By any chance might you know a little blond boy? I think he said he was 15 or so. He had on some funny robes and was waving a stick around."

Blonde, did he say? Severus whinced. Could it be possible that Lucius Malfoy's poor excuse for a wizard offspring had actually made it here? He grabbed the bridge of his nose tightly for a moment and sighed. "I've...I've met only two wizards from mine own time, their names are Remus Lupin and," He paused to sneer, "Sirius Black."

"But, I should tell you that I do know of a blonde young wizard, and I can tell you that if it is in fact the same person that I know...He's particularly useless and his name is Draco Malfoy."

"Oh! Yes that is him. I felt bad for him so I left him with Sophie. It seamed unfair to leave a kid on their own," and now he could avoid all responsibility Sophie wanted to put on him for the care of the teenage wizard.

"Their are two other wizards as well? Then it should be easier to work out a plan, the demon I ran into wasn't helpful at all!" Howl was becoming more excited bit by bit. As if he were a teenager himself quick to go from one extreme to another. "because I keep and keep and keep trying my divinations don't even help, and their rarely wrong."

"Divinations?" He rolled his eyes. "I've never been found of divination, it requires so much...speculation. Guess work, in my opinion. No, it's the subtle art of potion making that's always suited me. Those--those other two wizards are a bit of trouble, I should warn you. One is a touch moody turning certain times and the other is arrogant and...completely insane to say the least."

"Funny, I do less guess work when I divine," he shrugged. As for the wizards Serverus spoke of he wasn't sure what he was talking about. He was fine with moody and arrogant, he liked to seem that way himself most the time.

"Oh I care not for their personalities, I just want to know if they would be useful in trying to leave. I don't know about you, but I don't much care for it here. I can't do the things I want to do without scaring people. This is why I left home, I don't care for worlds who can't handle magic," he was obviously frustrated and using the opportunity to vent.

"I live in a world that can't handle magic." He sighed, he didn't know how much this man would care for a history lesson, but he was about to get one just the same. "Around the Middle Ages, Christianity caused a split in the wizard ad muggle--muggle being non-magic folk--communities. The wizards then moved into their own towns and cities, protected by wards to keep muggles away. Finally, in England and in other countries all over the world what started as secret societies grew to be known as the 'Wizarding World.' A complete network of wizards focusing on themselves and leaving the muggles and their newfound religion to fend for themselves."

"As for the two wizards in question, I know not whether they would at all want anything to do with leaving this place or not. They're surprisingly happy as long as they are...How shall I put it? Together."

It sounded like the sort of story in children's fantasy. "What I would have done for something like that when I was young," he sighed deeply. "But I do have one question, why are you so removed? I would have thought that people who practiced magic would have stayed up to date with current affairs."

As for the other two wizards, if they didn't want to leave than they were useless to Howl and thus not worth his time. Unless they were fun people he could hang out with, and perhaps do sport things with. He didn't plan on being here long enough to need to socialize though.

"Most wizards care very little for the workings of muggles. In fact, quite a few think them beneath wizards and wizards born of muggles to be of lesser form than those of 'pureblood'. Wars have been fought over blood."

"Well thats just silly, somethings are easier to do with science then magic," he raised a hand to his head as if the idea of doing more then he had to was giving him a headache.

"So what brings you to this library good sir? You seem like a practical person so I hope you have learned more here then I."
