This has nothing to do with your post, but what is your fasination with Israel and the Hebrew language? Are you an Indian Jew? I didnt even know there WERE Indian Jews.
Nah, just found it on the net. Kerala looks gorgeous from the pictures my Kerala colleague showed me, but in all honesty, it still at one the lowest "to visit" list of mine!
well eventhough i;ve bin living here(in kerala) for like 8 years, i never went sight seeing or anything. so i dont find any reason either for you to come here
No no, I'm not Jewish, just your regular agnostic spiritualist apostate-from-Islam Indian ;)
Interest in Israel comes from the Arab-Israeli conflict, which I've been following for over 6 years now. I don't like the Israeli [or Palestinian] government very much because they're all just playing games instead of sitting down and talking peace - but I simply adore Israeli and Arab culture, and the mix of the two. The interest in Hebrew - uh I dunno how that developed, possibly from reading about Israel so much. I've been fascinated with the language for so many years now!
There have been Jews in India since the 16th or 17th century CE, I think.. when some Mizrachi Jews from Iraq got shipwrecked near the western coast of India. Their descendants worked as oil pressers [in Hindi, called telis] but they didn't work on Saturdays, so they were called Shanwaar telis. They are collectively called the Bene Israel Jews. There are Bene Menashe and Bene Ephraim Jews in India too, in the north-east and they are slowly migrating to Israel.
