22-04-09 Matinée: Bloopers Galore!

Apr 22, 2009 21:28

I think we finally have a first for Wicked Australia! Apparently, at today's matinée almost all the sets had technical issues.

I wasn't there, but the following information is what I've been told through a friend so the info is a little sketchy, but well worth the read regardless. Feel free to confirm or re-mention anything if you personally attended the show.

Jemma Rix and Michael Snell both went on, as did a few Swings. And not only did the show start half an hour late (due to technical difficulties), but Jemma did not defy gravity today. The list of errors I've been told are as follows:
  • No benches in the first classroom scene, so they sat on the ground. But the benches were later dragged out by hand?
  • Dr Dillamond ripped off too much paper for lunch and struggled to swallow.
  • Jemma had the giggles in "Dancing Through Life", I think during her hat-revealing-dance-thingo scene.
  • The beds had to be manually pushed out for "Popular".
  • The beds were literally held throughout all of "Popular" - not sure by who - so Lucy had to be extra careful when jumping on them.
  • Jemma only just made it for her "One Short Day" entrance, and consequently giggled through Wizomania.
  • The lift did not go up for "Defying Gravity".
  • The table was missing in the "Wicked Witch of the East" scene, so Stuart kept the knife up his sleeve instead.
  • Jemma was a little flat in "As Long As You're Mine".
  • Lucy had nowhere to put the flowers in the Cornfield scene, so had to throw them off-stage.
  • Wrong trap door in "No Good Deed"... whatever that means.
  • Jemma melted late.
But some good news is that apparently both Jemma and Lucy were on fire (couldn't expect any less) and there was great chemistry between Jemma and Mike (not sure why Mike was on for the matinée, I'm sure Danial was supposed to) and apparently Jemma's acting was phenominal (again, not surprised - she's amazing).

So, I guess this is why Ryan Sheppard's Facebook status was "What a crazy way to start the 8 show week!" earlier today. Either way, I think this is pretty funny. I wonder why everything started to play up.

Just thought I'd share this information with y'all...

EDIT: Actually, it might have been Danial, not Mike. My friend isn't certain. Does anybody know for sure? Nevermind, it was definitely Mike.
