Now, Let me share with you, my thoughts, complied and expanded on from my various twitterings on the matter.
Apparently Amazon doesn't see anything on
this entire page as 'Adult themed'. I mean, just because there are naked breasts and vagina on the covers of some of those books doesn't mean it's adult themed! It's obvious that those tits and Va-Jayjays aren't gay and are therefore completely appropriate for anyone!
*rolls eyes*
This entire debacle is all a bit like committing a murder in a crowded room with a civil war canon. It's Loud, messy and you're not fooling anyone!
There is a
list of the stripped books up and as I was going through them I found Anything Goes by John Barrowman and Moab is my Washpot Memoir by British national treasure Stephen Fry. This caused me to be even more pissed off because I LOVE these 2 men, one of them with a fiery passion the likes of which would embarrass the sun!
While following this topic I have seen it suggested that #amazonfail is a "trolling" being perpetrated by a person/group the likes of Warriors For Innocence from SixApart LJ Strikethough07 days. This 'trolling' theory has creditably and is, imho, highly likely. This DOES NOT however free #amazonfail from liability in the matter. It should take FAR more than X number of 'complaints' "click sent" for an item to be injured in such a manner. #amazonfail should be far for adept than this. Complaints should be actually LOOKED AT BY AT LEAST HALF WAY INTELLIGENT HUMAN BEINGS so that reasonable decisions of such complaints can be made. This is NOT the type of thing that should be generated by "robot" programs. I hope that Amazon learns this lesson quickly here.
The 'Twitter and interweb brigade' can't just 'ignore' this event, even if it IS likely 'trolling'. The message must be sent and understood: things like this ARE NOT acceptable. Be more vigilant or suffer the wrath of the netverse and it's minions!
