Nano update

Nov 07, 2011 07:56

So it's been a while since i updated LJ. At least concerning Nano. As of right now I've got 9342 words, which is about par, still got to get the 1600 or so for today and possibly more if I can swing it. I have to admit having a goal really does make me write far more than on a normal day, especially when I'm more worried about finishing this project that working on others. The lack of editing really helps too. The word count goes up and I know the little details I want to put in later will iron themselves out eventually.
I've got to admit there are things in this novel I never would have thought of had it not been for the speed with witch I have to write it. Ideas I would have thought were horrible are becoming so ingrained in the story that they make sense and I actually killed off a character for lack of anything else to write and I am really happy that I did it. Despite the tears at destroying one of my own creations-I often feel like a really cruel god while writing-it led to some interesting character development and plot twists. cemented some traits in my character that were getting hard to define as well without just making a character profile in my piece.
If anyone can't tell the whole Nano process has affected my writing everywhere else. I'm rambling in writing form...strange.
Just to give everyone a taste of my plot, or my funniest scene so far I think here is an excerpt.

Thieves Guild Job
               “Hey Michael?”
                “Yeah Gabe?”
“Was I supposed to put the bomb on the little green one or the big brown one?”
“The little green one,” Michael said glancing over at his brother. Hoping against hope that the question was another one of his pranks.
“Huh,” Gabriel said still looking out at the north end of the space port seconds before the south side of the place exploded.
“Gabriel?!” Michael screamed over the sound of rending metal and chaotic screaming.
“Oops,” the look was so innocent and sincere that Michael groaned and collapsed listlessly onto the grass.
“Why did you put the charges in place again?”
“Umm. Cause I’m the one with the experience in explosives. You’d have blown yourself up instead of just the wrong side of the space port.”
“Yeah well by the time the client get a hold of us we’ll be dead any way so…”
                “Not necessarily. We’ll just improvise.”
                “Again?”
“What, we do our best work when we’re flying by the seat of our pants.”
