Fiiine, fiiine, nudge nudge!

Finally at the end of my year in Memphis. Working on my 8th and final show, which opens on the 6th, and I leave as early as possible on the 7th (since I have to work that day). Then I head to Princeton, Illinois to design 3 shows for the young theatre company Festival 56. One musical, two straight plays, all small casts. Don't know yet where I'll be in the fall... I have a few applications and resumes floating into the hands of various potential employers, so we'll see. Just sent one out last night that I'm pretty hopeful about, mostly because I'd be working with a friend of mine, and it's Asst. Shop Manager rather than Designer, which I think could be a really good thing because it means that I could be designing things for myself and for fun rather than spending it all at work.

The sad news is that my laptop died last week, and I think it's gone for good. I need to see if I can get things backed up. It isn't much, just a lot of documents, I think, but still sad. I'd figured it was about to go, so I went ahead and backed up all my pictures, so at least I definitely have those. I think as long as I can find someplace that can either charge it or loan me a compatible battery, I can get things backed up and get it cleaned off; then I can just get rid of the thing. No idea when I'll be able to get a new one.

Well, barring me finding a Theatre job for the fall, I'm likely to be back in K-town this fall, at least for a while. I have the opportunity to go back on a ship pretty much any time, and that'd be a great way to settle some finances. We'll see. I'm hoping to start seriously looking into grad school, so if I'm lucky I'll have a job *and* it'll be scheduled right to give me enough time to work on applications. I went ahead and asked Berea for some transcripts to get that out of the way. Granted, I also thought it would take a while, but it was less than a week after I sent for them. Good to know they work fast!

That's the main deal here. My life consists of work, sleep, food, and the occasional hanging out. My online life is conducted on MySpace and Facebook, with checking for updates here whenever I remember, or every couple of weeks. I want a job someplace more permanent so I can get an apartment, have a bed that's really mine, maybe even make friends and be able to have people over. And if I'm *really* lucky -- not have a roommate. Right now I have 4. In addition to 8 other people who live in the other apartments and are in and out, and the people that they all invite over. I'm tired of roommates. Maybe if I just had one or two it wouldn't be so bad.
