Extra! Extra!

1) American Ice Dancers Tanith Belbin and Ben Agosto took Silver in the Olympics! This is only the second Ice Dancing medal ever taken by America; the other was Bronze, and was won 30 years ago. Quite a success for the "Young Americans". Opa!

2) Laura has a cold. It sucks. My whole family is ill (except maybe my sister, and that'd probably be b..c she's never around us). I am only the latest victim. I just hope I'm better by Thursday -- trip to Berea with Sarah, what what!

3) Finally had my last cake decorating class tonight. And they gave us diplomas and everything, teehee; "This is to Certify That Laura E. Jordan has completed Sugarbaker's Beginning Cake Decorating Class". I took a lot of medicine so I could get through it without incident. Here is a picture of my final cake, in all its cakity glory:

In my defense, the holes in the basketweave aren't as noticeable in person; the flash reflected off the white and made it shine. Even if it *was* that apparent, it's hard to go back into the basketweave and fix holes while still making it look good. Believe me... even the teacher was amazed that I did basketweave on a round cake. And mine was the only conceptual cake there, and I must say, mine was definitely one of the best. One was a one-layer round cake with a pink border around the top and bottom edges, and a few pink swirls on the top. She didn't use like *anything* we learned in class.

I'm still debating as to whether or not I should take the next set of classes. I guess either way I won't be starting next week, but maybe the next go-round. Cake decorating is fun. We kind of learned roses tonight, and I definitely need more practice on that, though part of my problem was that my new batch of frosting is too soft to hold that kind of shape. I'm also still debating as to whether or not I'm going to make a cake or cupcakes to take to Berea. I probably won't, because I've got to finish the Olympic Knitting Challenge, but it'd be a good way to get rid of the rest of this frosting. We'll see.
