Last weekend was yet another LAN party, and thoroughly enjoyable it was too. So enjoyable in fact that come Sunday night, I didn't really want to stop.
jwhiskers_ and
easytiger told me to hang around with them, stay up all night talking, and phone in sick with work the next morning. And being an easily-led and weak-willed type, I did.
Monday afternoon I got an e-mail from Adecco that said:
I have been asked to tell you not to return into work an need to explain why.
Now, my feeling on this was mixed at best. I hated my job. I really wanted out. My job had been so mind numbingly tedious that I often fantasised about getting sacked. It was, literally, a dream come true, but a dream in which I was unemployed and not far off running out of money.
Still, my luck was in. Turns out that
jwhiskers_ could just about afford to pay me to do some work for him; work that was something I actually wanted to do. Two whole days of unemployment and then I just walk into exactly the kind of job I had been looking for.
So, the moral of the story: Being a lazy bastard works.
