Ravenholm was as scary as a kitten compared to the "They Hunger" Halflife 1 series by Neil Manke, which featured such wonderfully Lovecraftian devices as screaming heads (in a tank), disembodied creeping hands, and some actually scary zombies. Oh, and you got to hit things with a shovel.
