To save anyone else having to ask I've now got stewardship if the mancgoff mailing list. Over the last couple of years the list has been in decline along, many feel, with the manchester scene. Neither is down to the owner or moderators of the list. A mailing list is a commons for people to use. The 'Management' are there to try & keep it on track, keep out spammers as much as possible etc.
I hope the list can be revived, but this is up to the members. If you haven't posted don't complain there's no posts and nothing to read.
I've also aquired the .com .org and .net domains with intention of setting up a site to promote the mailing list and mancgoff in general.
