OK five minutes to write a super quick catch-up entry, then its off to bed with me; I've been up since SEVEN THIRTY ay-em, and I really think its about time to hit the hay.
...why does that sentence make it seem like I'm a precocious 15 year old with ADD? I feel like its how Juno would write. And I hate Juno.

OK, back to my story: how the last few weeks have been.

I spent my last week in Geneva! It was both good and bad. The bad: five hours of sleep every night, working on a presentation about international trade, eating the blandest chicken/rice/potatoes at our farewell dinner. Oh and the dinner, by the way, was attended by random guest speakers and people from the international organizations we visited; this made me sad, because it upped the awkward factor of the dinner. What I had expected to be a heartwarming farewell dinner with all my new friends turned into a giant schmoozefest. Barf. The good: GOING ON A BOAT AND JUMPING INTO THE LAKE. Soooo good and spontaneous...well, not too spontaneous, as I wore my swimsuit. But still. More good: discovering Le Calamar, a cool bar/restaurant with LA hipster decor and $18 burgers. We went there a lot. More good: renting bicycles for the afternoon, then reading by the lake...learning to cook with eggs...finally playing in the fountain outside the UN.

It was bittersweet to leave Geneva. The city is not much fun, and the program was grueling and uninteresting. However, I made a lot of good friends, and our lifestyle was so surreal and exciting--I genuinely miss it.

I barely slept on the two plane rides home. I was awake for 32 hours!!! I got back to Santa Barbara and fell asleep in my clothes, with my makeup, and didn't wake up for eleven hours. Nice.

I finished Wuthering Heights. So enjoyable. I found Heathcliff quite romantic, despite his devilish ways. Is that odd?

Spent a lot of time with my parents this week. Went shopping with my mom. Learned how to make chicken tortilla soup. These past few days, I spent most of the afternoon at the UCSB library; I have a 30 page paper to write for my Geneva classes. NO FUN.

SB is so relaxed! I go back to LA tomorrow, and I really don't want to. I know once I get there I'll love being back in the swing of things, but as of now, I'm just dreading it all:
-30 page paper, due Sep 17
        -GREs, Sep 19
-Working from 5:30am-2 + Bruin Bash concert + Bruin Bash midnight movie, Sep 20
        -French, five days a week
        -Interning three days a week
-Trying to fit some shifts in at parking, so I don't go broke.
-Applying to grad school. Berkeley's app is due during finals week! And UCLA and USC are the week after. :/

But there will be good things as well:
-Bon Iver sunrise show in the Hollywood Forever Cemetery.
        -fall retreat
-Watching Melrose Place every week with Melissa. I don't care how behind I am on my work, we will do this.
        -the sun! Beautiful LA!

geneva, books, busy, shopping, grad school, stress, santa barbara
