Southern Nevada Visitor Center

14 March:: The curves and hills of highway 163 end at U.S. Highway 95, a straight north-south jag. You know you’re getting close when the billboards start to appear, but there’s nothing more than a gas station at the intersection.

I spy a rest area.
I make sure we stop there

We’ve found the Southern Nevada Visitor Center.
It’s not really a visitor center

Turns out the rest area is peppered with information signs, doubling as historical markers.
Here’s one about Historic Trails

The design is sort of space-age, with lots of angles and shelters. There are the usual picnic tables, pet area, etc. It looks new. I think it was opened in 2013.
Space-age rest area

There’s a big, wide area for truck and RV parking. Cars get to park closer to the restrooms, of course.
Gratuitous Harvey shot
