10 March: The motorcycle has new seals on the rear brake, and is happy. We were up early, but delayed departure until the sun was not in our eyes any more. Then we left, around 10, for what was a pleasantly flowing but not quite smooth day. We even got to overtake something.
Well, ok, it pulled over
But it was still something. We don’t overtake much of anything in Harvey, so we’ll take our thrills where we can get them.
Helen and Tim weren’t around, which was sad, so we dumped tanks and left. In town, we went first to the recycler, where we disgorged a large accumulation of cans.
There was a young girl there, maybe four, who seemed absolutely fascinated with me and kept popping round the side of her parents’ vehicle to wave and ask me things I couldn’t hear. Eventually her dad came to see what what was with the chick on a motorcycle. Said motorcycle then refused to start. Bummer.
By the time we finished recycling, the battery had settled enough to start again, so we shrugged and got on the road. Post office was next, where I mailed stuff and picked up mail and got a post office box for my business, finally. Then we filled up with gas, called in at Albertson’s for road food and milk, and we were on our way.
