Licorice Mint Blend: 4.5/5
A blend of Peppermint, Spearmint, and Licorice root.
Wow. I was really rather dubious about this tea, as I had recently come to the conclusion that Licorice was NOT my thing. But this was amazing. The peppermint and spearmint took on really well together; I'll probably try just the two of them together in the future, to see what it's like without the licorice. But I think it was the combination of the spearmint and the licorice that gave my drink an amazingly sweet kick. It was in that spot between what's in your mouth and the after taste, just a blast of sweet. Due to the mint, though it was a hot drink, it was extremely refreshing, and I'll let you all know how fantastic it is as an iced tea as soon as I try it. :) I'm really glad that I liked this one. I was getting tired of blah teas.
Tea and Health
Tea has been considered an asset to health for as long as people have been drinking it. In the eighth century, Lu Yu, author of Ch'a Ching, credited tea as a topical remedy for sores and ulcers and as a way to ease depression. A seventeenth century English broadside asserted that tea would combat headaches, giddiness, heaviness, colds, dropsy, and scurvy, among a host of other claims. The fact that ea is made with boiling water-which kills bacteria- in itself made tea a healthy alternative to other drinks. But tea also has antioxidant properties and contains calcium, fluoride, and vitamins proven to reduce the risk of some kinds of cancer and heart disease, and even fight tooth decay and bad breath.
