Earlier today I was trying to find out just what was taking up all the space on my hard drive, and I noticed that my "All Shared Documents" folder was HUGE. So I opened it up. And, much to my delight, I found a bunch of files that I thought I'd lost in last year's hard drive crash! Among them were a bunch of old pictures, which is why a new Batman icon accompanies this post. I also found the short story I wrote back in 1999! I received a good grade on it, and was proud of myself for writing it... Hey, I'm a Computer Science major! :-P I'm not supposed to be able to write stories! I think I'll post the story on this journal... One day. ;-)
In one of the folders, I found some of my old drawings. I thought it would be fun to post them. They're just doodles, really... What can I say; sometimes, class was boring! :-P If you're interested, they're below the cut.
I drew this during my Databases class in 2001. Obviously, it's based very much on
Berkeley Breathed, who created Bloom County. One of my favorite artists! The 3D Batman logo is a bonus doodle. :-P
I didn't know who I was drawing when I started this one... He started to remind me of Jay (as in Jay and Silent Bob, nootch!) but then I started adding seemingly random things. I gave him a backwards baseball cap, a Superman t-shirt (when I was a kid I would practice drawing that logo until I could do it with my eyes closed), and a bat. Just for good measure, I had him stick his tongue out. Notice the creases in his clothes? Nice, eh? :-P I don't draw bodies very well; this is probably the best I've done. :-/
I'm good at copying drawing styles, and this is a doodle I did in the style of my good buddy, Tom. Tom's characters always remind me of something you'd see painted on a skateboard - very cool! :-) I've drawn this "axe guy" a lot over the years... I think of it as stress relief. :-P Tom can do it much better, and usually adds a nice visual touch. Like the dude's brain coming out of his mouth, or his eyes exploding... Or something. :-P
Er, that's it! For now... Man, this folder is a gold mine! I'm so glad I got these files back!
