In second grade, we had learned how to read and were beginning to grasp how to write... I was a student in Miss Neurohr's class at
Terraset Elementary in Reston, Virginia. As an ongoing language arts project, we were tasked with writing, illustrating, and then publishing our own "books." Over the course of the school year I created probably 20 or so... They could be on any subject we wanted; one or two sentences per page. One of the first ones I did was about my favorite theme park at the time - Epcot Center.
My parents kept a bunch of these books and though some were lost over the years, my Epcot Center book was one of the lucky ones that survived - it also happens to be my favorite. I borrowed it from my parents a while back so I could scan it in and share it on here. :-) So here you go!
That's
Figment looking through a spyglass, in case you can't tell. :-P
Personally, I liked the Universe of Energy much more before it became "Ellen's Energy Adventure."
The Living Seas was another favorite of mine because once you got "down" to Sea Base Alpha, you could go see the J.A.S.O.N. robot!
We put a slot for a library card on the back cover of each book so other kids in the class could "check out" the book and write what they thought. I couldn't find the one for my Epcot book unfortunately... :-( But here's one from my Computers book to give you an idea of what it looked like!
I really enjoy looking at old stuff like this... I'm a pretty nostalgic person, and I can still remember the incredible feeling I would get when I finished one of these books. :-)
