My parents made it up safe and sound. Earlier tonight we all had dinner at
The Red Elephant and then we came back to my house to watch some TV (mainly Bill Maher, who's angrier than ever these days :-P). I'm not sure what we'll do tomorrow... Tallahassee always presents a bit of a challenge when it comes to occupying the day before a night game.
OH! The game. It's a big one - #18 Wake Forest vs. #24 FSU. I feel pretty good, but I also know that FSU is a young team (particularly on the offensive line) who has been beating up on Division 1-AA (or whatever it's called these days) opponents for the last couple weeks. Yeah, 69-0 and 46-7 are great scores, but considering the caliber of the losing teams... Well, I have no idea what's going to happen tomorrow. But I know what I would like to happen. I want FSU to show that they're on their way back to being an elite team.
You see, two years ago Wake Forest came to town and obliterated the Seminoles 30-0. It's the only shutout at home ever suffered by a Bobby Bowden-coached FSU team, covering a span of 33 years.
I was there, and it was a horrible night that I'll never forget. But things finally began to change after that - offensive coordinator Jeff Bowden stepped down three days later. Now here we are, two years later. Most of the JB-era players are either gone or have been relegated to backup roles. FSU is supposed to be on its way back... I guess we'll see! I'll be there, cheering my heart out. :-)
