My air conditioner is still not fixed... I've started keeping a log of my dealings with Pro-Air - the only time I do that is when I'm at my wit's end with a company. In fact, the only two organizations before now that were bestowed this honor were Cingular and Comcast. Not the list you want your company to be on! But these bastards have earned it after two incorrect diagnoses and a complete failure to do their job. I had to diagnose the problem myself by going out and watching the unit!
It turns out that after running for about 25 minutes, the fan on the outside unit just stops. The compressor continues to run for a few minutes before it ramps up and overloads. When that happens, the whole thing shuts down. The air handler in the garage continues to run, but it stops circulating cold air. I have to shut the whole thing down for about an hour before I can run it for another 25 minutes or so... Obviously, something is wrong with the fan motor.
The repairman assured me last night that they'd be out "first thing in the morning" to put a new motor in. When they hadn't showed up by 9:30, I gave them a call and was told they were waiting on their Ducane distributor. I JUST got a call five minutes ago - it turns out their Ducane distributor is completely out of the motor that my unit uses, but will be getting a new shipment in at either 2PM today or 2PM tomorrow. :-( I can almost GUARANTEE that with the way everything else has gone, it's NOT going to be 2PM today.
This is their last shot. If this doesn't work, I'm calling out a new company and disputing all charges to my credit card by Pro-Air. I've just HAD IT.
