Days 1-3: L.A. and first day in San Jose

I just realised I haven't updated this thing since I landed! Whoops.

To summarise:

Monday, wolfwings finally picked me up from the airport, took me to where his aunt and uncle were staying in Laguna Woods, I crashed out for 5 hours, we had dinner at his dad's place in Topanga, drove around some parts of L.A. *forgetful*, hit a WalMart for supplies, then ( Read more... )

What about American plumbing strikes you as odd, outside from the water goes the other way down the drain? :)

Faucet controls here baffle me. In Oz we have much simpler and more obvious controls.

The 'H' and 'C' knobs sort of went out of fashion here with postwar production (that being 1945 and after, that war) and people started fiddling with knob technology. Now in public faucets are moving much more towards motion sensing, and in homes towards a single dial. Not that it's better in any way.
