{There's a video feed coming in, of a large early Victorian sitting room and fireplace. The first thing one might notice, however, is not the period furniture or the formally dressed man in the middle of it, but rather the crowd of animals puttering around him. They're smaller animals, to be sure, but there are a lot of them-a dog, guinea pigs, two cats, a load of a variety of birds...and the noise isn't quite as terrible as one would expect.}
Greetings! It is amazing how we've all settled in so quickly and remarkably well. I thought at least Dab-Dab would get some spell of sea-sickness. He gets displaced rather easily in motion, despite being a duck. Oh! Look at that! {He walks over to his tank of goldfish, smiling at them swimming around their little watery palace,} Not a single drop of displaced water! Remarkable! Simply remarkable.
{He blows a few bubbles at them, taking great care to not 'shout', as goldfish are very sensitive to that kind of thing.} They seem a little unsettled, but that's nothing new. Goldfish have an odd sense for these things. {He continues blowing bubbles and mumbling at them until he recalls the video, and looks up suddenly.}
Ah, good heavens! I nearly forgot. I am Doctor John Dolittle, and I am terribly excited to be here. Some introductions are in order. {He picks up the large blue and yellow parrot next to him.} This is Polynesia, there's Dab-Dab, Too-Too, Jip, Chee-Chee, {He points out a duck, owl, golden retriever, and chimpanzee in turn} and, well, there are a lot of us, at any rate. The rest of the introductions can wait. If you have any animals requiring tending I would be more than happy to give them care.
