Good evening, ladies and gentlemen and welcome to Part Four of our interview with Republican Army veteran Sergeant Howard Campbell.
Part Four: The French Question
EBC: So, we come now to the most controversial topic in the Republic today; the French. As most of our listeners know, you have been quite vocal about your opinion on this topic, but just for the record, could you state your position on the re-establishment of diplomatic relations?
HC: Well, before I do, I'd just like to state the immense respect and admiration I have for the common French soldier. French troops are experienced, well-trained, and well-equipped, and know their stuff. I would be honored any day of the week to share a battle line with them. Do not confuse this opinion, however, with my opinion of French politicians; every last one of them is a lying, scheming, malicious traitor that would kill you soon as look at you. The fact is, they made decisions and choices that cost the lives of thousands of Republican sons. We cannot simply sweep their memory under the carpet and wipe our hands of the matter. It is not an option. It would be dishonorable to pretend that our nations are friends again after all that has been said and done. The malevolent acts of French politicians cannot be ignored. The Republic is strong enough now to go it alone. I see no reason to re-establish anything with the French.
EBC: Well, this topic certainly has been hotly debated in the Republican Senate and indeed throughout the country, seemingly without any clear conclusion. Do you see this problem being solved any time in the near future?
HC: If I had my way, it would already be settled. However, there are some more liberal factions within the Senate that have barred such action and put forth bills of their own to re-establish commerce and diplomatic connections. Note, however, that this bills have always been defeated by an overwhelming majority. Eventually, the liberals will stop butting their heads against this wal and come to their senses.
EBC: OK, well, thank you, Sergeant Campbell, for your time. Sergeant Howard Campbell: warrior, patriot, and political activist. Thanks for tuning in. And that's the news for tonight. Don't forget to tune in tomorrow night for the latest news of the Republic, same time, same network: "It's the E, E, EBC - Eddie Broadcasting Corporation"
