Flexibility. No, not of my limbs, I've never, for instance, been able to "touch my toes" (you know, with knees not bent, with knees bent I fare somewhat better:), but of my training time management. I have a training schedule. Sorta. It's not finalized, still tweaking it, but it's there in place, for now through 3M in January.
In true DNA HHGTTG manner, recognizing that suspense is a cause of undue stress and alarm, I'll confess that everything has turned out perfectly so far today but there were some wrinkles and, I confess, yesterday I threw a tantrum and got all huffy!
Flexibility, don't be a baby, suck it up, no whining. I knew all that. But totally ignored it! Well, the last three, I guess I maintained some vestige of the first.
My schedule had me
run to work yesterday (5 miles), host/run-with a
Rogue Running Taco Run this morning (10 miles), ride this afternoon (120 mins), long run tomorrow (14 miles).
Friday midday I got an e-mail saying I'd been promoted to orchestrate the Taco Run. I.e. I wouldn't get to actually run my scheduled 10 miles! What? I'd already run my 5 on Friday, so it was too late to turn that into a 10 miler. Tantrum. Swearing. Huffy! Not pleasant to be around. Ranting. Still, I'd volunteered, there was no "reading the fine print" to see exactly what I had volunteered for (I had *ass*umed ...). C'est la vie.
This morning I showed up at Rogue at 6:45 a.m. to see my 7:00 a.m. Austin/Houston runners off. Then settled into my Taco Run duties. I dispensed the first half of those duties, sent both groups off. I was due to be relieved at 9:00 a.m. at which point I was going to run for 30-40 mins to be back in time to meet-and-greet my/our San Antonio runners back from their last long run (22-24 miles) before their race in three weeks. But rogueLaura finished her run early, dismissed me, and I was able to get out and run sooner than I expected, and managed to run almost the 10 miles that I had scheduled! Yay, thanks Laura!
It was an awesome run! 8.5 miles at 8:00 min/miles :) Store to town lake, east end of the damn loop back to Auditorium Shores back to store.
8:51, 8:34, 8:19, 7:46, 7:28, 7:03, 8:22, 7:39, 7:51. Yay.
Now, that 2 hour ride I had planned for this afternoon? It was to be while The Wife was out. But her thing got moved to Sunday, so I flexibly switched my ride to Sunday too to remain coincident with her being away from the house.
Flexibility :) Now, to work on the less huffy, less whining when I don't get things my way ...
