I know so many brilliant creative people wandering mostly alone through the world. They apply their efforts and their genius to all kinds of artistic endeavors mostly alone or sometimes banding together small scale, like a band or an artist collective or a non profit organization etc but any time I suggest that it would be great to band together on a large scale I am met with protests that this couldn't possibly work because of the inevitable social dynamics involved in trying to cooperate in a large group of people.
But if we have managed to band together to build highways, corporations, governments, churches, skyscrapers, armies, weapons of mass destruction, the organization of which is likely motivated by fear, why do we think we can't do something better with love, with a passion for creation?
I want to see this happen somehow in my life time so badly.
Sometimes I console my self about this thinking: maybe we are just here to be explorers. Maybe we're not really here to effect change. Maybe it is totally enough that we wander through this world that we have unconsciously created living and loving and finding beauty where we can and making it here and there when we can. Yeah, that's not a bad way to live. But I want to believe we can do more.
