I figure its time I update this thing. So where to begin....my life is HECTIC. After switching majors last year (or rather dropping one of my doubles), I spent a lot of time reflecting on what I wanted to do in life. Then I realized that the answer to that was simple cuz I already really enjoyed my current job, and I know how much fun theatre/entertainment tech work can be. So now a days I'm considering lighting design for graduate school, however I may take a break before I actually start that. For now, I've taken up a drama minor, which means my senior year will be full of classes so that I can finish it in time (so much for only needing 4 more classes to graduate >.<). Oh well.
I've also been assignment as a lighting designer. There is a festival in early mid January of 3 short plays, 1.5 of which i'm the lighting designer for (there are 2 of us, I'm doing one play alone, she's doing another, and we're co-op'ing the 3rd play). Got to admit it was pretty overwhelming when I first got assigned cuz I felt so behind in terms of knowledge and experience on what I had to do, but then i realized i had learned a lot more than I thought i did through drama, the ARC, and now the Mondavi over the years...I just didn't ever take the time to learn the terminology lol. So currently my life is being semi-taken up by having to do my designs for my plays, since the plots are due in 1 week, which seems ridiculously early, but i figure its cuz they need to figure out the budget and stuff. Plus we get 3 weeks off for Christmas this year, not just 2. Which is also awesome. Other than that, my life is controlled by school, my awesome job at the Mondavi, and dealing with possibly the worst occurrence ever (some of you will know what I mean). But just got to keep marching on.
Oh, and random tangent for those who do not already know, but my Drama 24 professor was the production designer for Honey I Shrunk the Kids (I got to see how the ant worked!), Babylon 5, and a lot of other shows/movies.
K, time to head back to class. Where's my rockstar so I don't pass out....
