Today was great! Katie and I went up to Shanandoah. She wanted to take pictures and I wanted to go for a bike ride. We started at Thorton's Gap. Katie offered to drive me to the top of the first hill, but I decided to pass.
What was I thinking. The first hill was 5 miles long and went up 1300 feet. There was a lot like that today. In the end I climbed between 4000 and 5000 vertical feet. The distance wasn't that far...only 28 miles, but at the end of it I was whooped. It was so fun. Perhaps the best part of the day started early on. On the way up the first hill I met a fellow from Taiwan who is riding around the US for a year. We rode together for the whole day. Great guy. He said that I helped him go faster and farther, he definitely helped me have a lot more fun.
What a great day.
