Two Years can change the world.. And then sometimes not.
It has been two years since we lost a part of our dignity. Katrina hit. The government did nothing right. And still haven’t. It seems like it is up to us personally to take care of our own.
I conduct Culinary Tours of Europe and major cities of America. I had a tour scheduled only 5 months after. I kept the tour on.. Many people canceled, but I was determined to go alone if I had to. I started with a full tour of 43 people and ended with only 9 of us. We did tour the 9th Ward.. It was so sad.
One of my colleagues helped re-open Willie Mae's Scotch House. It has the best fried chicken in the country! The James Beard Foundation awarded this 91 yr old lady the covenant award. A team of foodies helped on weekends and made the place heath inspector ready.. Also a place for Ms. Willie Mae to live as her home was part of the resturant in a shotgun house.
Hopefully we don’t see another day like the 29th of August
