Neil is not sure when he will be returning home since his mom will be alone. But she will have to one day. A buddy of ours stopped past to see him and the family. He said they were coping.. Crying one minute laughing the next.
Yesterday my shipment of books came. I buy a set amount so I can offer autographed copies to my students a few months before they hit the big box stores. They guy comes with 70 cases. He has them all on one pallet without a pallet jack. So I get a dolly, he also has one. I run circles.. OK it was 104F yesterday.. But I wanted him gone! What a nerd.
I shopped for the groceries and such for my open house/book signing on Wednesday. It looks like 150-175 people. Neil will not be back.. I stopped past Stapes to get a large mounted poster size of my book for the front hallway into the center. Costco, Vons, Trader Joes, Smart and Final and a few other places.
I stayed up until 2am autographing and shipping books
I felt sorry for the person behind me at the post office today..
Tonight I baked:
Two 22-inch cheesecakes
Two- Flourless Raspberry Chocolate Tortes
1 batch of Ganche paste that I will make into Cuban Chocolate Truffles
200 Cherry Butter Cookies
Two 18-inch pear almond tarts
Tomorrow Staples is having a Teacher appreciation day. (The past month I have been in about 7 times and every time they tell me.. your coming right??). I think I will drag myself over..
The Western Restaurant Show is tomorrow in LA and I need a few things at Surfas in Culver City. Last week I tried to get to this great antique store that has a large collection of pedestal cake places. Some in marble with a 22-in round.
Then tomorrow night is Eagle.. since the street fair is going on.. I may just stay up.
PS: My mom is doing great.. Thank you all for the calls, emails and messages.
