One Week to Go

Aug 12, 2006 15:30

Well, I am now offically unemployed now. Except not, because according to my econ class and the government, unemployed means that you don't have a job and are looking for one. My response to work right now is probably not rated G, so I'll just let that slide. Man, my writing skills suck.

The people at work were pretty sad to see me go. On the second to last day, Paul the grinder (no, not that kind. He grinds things) brought my sister and me Power's hamburgers - a local special. And then came the cards and gift certificates. I was sad to see the people go, but I cannot spend another day weighing out manure or corn.

I lost my ipod. That totally sucks. I ended up buying a new one from the website, engraved with my name and "Thou shall not steal." I don't know what happened, but I am pretty sure it was stolen. My mother was so upset. I don't blame her. I was pretty pissed myself. But...whatever. What happens, happens.

I got a computer! You can see it here, being the 1.83 and therefore cheapest one. I can't believe I am going Mac. It's a huge ordeal, but it seems the right thing to do. I am just glad that I'll be able to use it on the way to school. Good thing I'm not planning on flying.

I went to my grandparents yesterday to give them some of the extra tomatos from the garden. I love them so much and will miss them when I go off to school. I will probably be the girl who calls them every Sunday just to say hi. But I'm going over on Monday to have supper with them - Grandma is making my favorite - quas - and I wouldn't miss it for anything. Nothing, absolutely nothing, beats Polish food done right.

I found my old calculator today. Actually Mom did, but I was pretty excited. Those things are like a $100 or so. Maybe I'll sell it on eBay to pay for Christmas gifts.

I got my roommate assignment today. Her name is Charlotte and she lives near NYC. I can only pray that she is a Mets rather than Yankees fan. St. John's didn't give me her phone number on the paper just an address. I called school but won't learn anything till Monday. I would like to talk a little before the school year if anything just to know if I should get a fridge or if we'll share. Plus it is a bonus to know who you are living with. What if she thinks I'm a hillbilly? I fulfill every sterotype about Indiana - farm girl, 4-Her, beat up old Ford pickup...well except the Republican thing. It's not that I am ashamed of who I am, I just want people to see beyond the easily accepted appearance. I leave in a little over a week. I can't get over how things are changing so much. Not that it is a bad thing. Well, a little: I haven't done my homework yet.

I got a new phone! It's a camera phone. But it is still the same number. I feel guilty about using the Evil Empire's network still, but sometimes you just have to set aside politics while being broke.
