Yesterday we stopped in at Best Buy, returning the old printer for recycling (and a lot of empty ink cartridges), and buying new electronics. The new speakers are Logitech; we were told they were Bluetooth only, but it turned out they could be plugged into the headphone jack on my Mac Mini, and the right side speaker has its own jack that I can plug the headphones into. We set them up yesterday (C doing the majority of the work) and tried them out on a few tracks from our wedding playlist, and we thought the sound quality was very good.
Today I unboxed the printer, an HP inkjet/scanner combination; plugged it in and turned it on; and downloaded the software onto my Mac Mini and initialized everything. I've test printed a few pages and the quality is much improved over the aging Epson printer. I've gone ahead and accepted an ink cartridge subscription with a modest monthly cost; there are different prices for different number of pages per month, which helped reconcile me to this approach. Now I have to walk C through getting her computer (and perhaps other devices) into communication with the printer.
