Yesterday was my 74th birthday. I spent most of the day just relaxing-I took it off from work. In the late afternoon C and I went to the Mad Greek for dinner: I had their souvlaki plate (made with pork rather than lamb, and with rice pilaf, green beans, and pita) and she had their gyros plate. We went out and walked down Massachusetts Avenue, admiring the extravagant Christmas lights, until we came to the end south of 11th. On the way back we stopped in at Sylas and Maddy's, an ice cream outlet, and I tried a scoop of Da Bomb, a hybrid of cookies and cream with cookie dough, and quite successful. Then we came home and talked for an hour with my sister via FaceTime. It was a quiet birthday but very pleasant.
