snow and ice

Bad Idea: going down steep icy hill because you think your all wheel drive car will be fine and then trying to stop resulting in total loss of steering and your car flipping onto its side and turning to face uphill.

An even worse idea: following behind the above car and also being unable to stop

Even worse: following behind the two above cars and not being able to stop

Resulting in a three car pileup completely blocking the road - which was probably almost a good thing because it meant that people would avoid coming near the road

Still the worst idea of last night: an hour after the fire department left, with the road still closed by the police at the top of the hill, with the cars still blocking road, thinking that your pickup truck will magically be able to have traction to up the hill. Which of course it didn’t, and after backing into another driveway to turn around slid a few hundred feet down the hill, into a retaining wall, and finally coming to a stop against one of the cars that was in the pile up.

This of course was followed by the police officer being unwilling to place any kind of indication at the bottom of the hill (because he didn’t want to walk up the hill to his car to get a road flair) that there was a crash around the corner. So people would come up the hill to a stop sign proceed up the hill to the right and do the “oh crap, there is a car crash in 30 feet I better stop and turn around.” This of course resulted in one of the cars that turned around driving off the road at the bottom of the hill. After a few hours another cop came and blocked the road at the bottom.

Well five hours after the initial crash the flatbeds came and fixed the situation.
