Hello, I'm Michelle.
Hello Michelle!
I am an office worker by day, west coast swing dancer and jewelry maker by night! I am also a pug mom and married to a genuine gentleman, who also happens to be one of my favorite dance partners as well.
Here is a recent picture of me at a dance competition (that is not the hubby).
This is the hubby. Here is the hubby and I in Puerto Rico last year for our 6 year anniversary.
15 Interesting Facts
1. I am Chinese, but was born in Virginia. Most of my family still lives in Taiwan.
2. I never owned dogs until I got married. Well, my dad brought home a puppy when I was 13. but the poor thing was only 2 weeks old and after a few days of it crying for its mother, I told my dad that he had to take it back. Plus my mom is scared of dogs.
3. I donated 10 inches of my hair last year to Locks of Love.
4. We have 2 pugs and we plan to start being foster pug parents again this year.
5. I grew up in the restaurant business - my parents owned and ran 4 different ones from the time I was 5 until I was 26.
6. I don't really cook (although I'm starting to learn a few things from my hubby). People always think that I'm a fabulous cook growing up the way I did (see #5), but whenever I got hungry, I just went to the chefs and they cooked something for me. Therefore, never really learned.
7. I have very small hands. I had a dance instructor once tell me that her 10 year old daughter had larger hands than me. ( I was 25).
8. I've been teaching dance (east coast swing, west coast swing and slow whip) for 11 years, on and off.
9. I hold 2 national titles in west coast swing, and 3 national titles in slow whip.
10. I used to want to be an actress, but since there were no major asian actresses in Hollywood, I gave up that dream. But I went to improv and acting workshops in middle school.
11. I speak conversational mandarin Chinese and I understand (but don't really speak) Taiwanese.
12. I accidentally stumbled into my jewelry business. I wanted a bracelet but couldn't find ones at the store in my size. So I tinkered around with some beads and supplies a friend gave me and ended up making a bracelet, necklace and earrings set. My coworkers liked it so much, they started placing orders.
13. My dream is to be able to retire early and travel the world, one dance contest at a time.
14. If a genie showed up one day and granted me one wish, I would wish to be 5 inches taller.
15. I have a "salty crunchy" tooth, the way other people have a sweet tooth.
