LET'S ATTEND OTAKON [Day 1]
Otakon Thursday: the day of Preregistration.
No Otakon trip is safe without disasters happening one way or another. I have a whole laundry list of Things That Went Wrong from manymany years previous. Also, it came upon myself and a few members of the original group I went to my first 'con with that in a few years it will be our TEN YEAR ANNIVERSARY. And we will, of course, have to do something epic.
Disaster the first: one of my out-of-state friends had an absolutely disastrous series of events involving his rental car leaving him stranded 2 hours outside of his destination. If it wasn't for the good graces of dragonninjakira he'd probably still be there.
Disaster the second: sparda219 bought his plane ticket for Thursday, not Wednesday... so at 8:30 we left Baltimore to drive back to Pennsylvania to retrieve him from the airport! Fortunately the trip was only a short hour and a half to hour and fifteen and was full of pleasant conversation.
The rest of the day passed rather uneventfully.
By the way, my choice of Chairman's Suite as hotel room was a great idea. Nothing like having a hotel room the size of a small apartment that was CLEARLY intended for a luxury weekend. The bed is fantastic. Unfortunately, only my picture of the room that came out clearly is of the bathroom. Will probably post anyway.
And now, onward to adventure!!
