Where to start, where to start... Describe their relationship in one word? Spontaneous.
America is pretty much the otherworldly embodiment of an Al Bhed: eccentric and expressive, childish, ever so cocky, a go-getter, lean muscular build, blonde. Honestly, it isn’t surprising Rikku’s so at home with him, because he sort of is home. At least in her mind. And it’s been a key piece in her transition to life on Thor.
America couldn't bore her even if he tried. In fact, it was his over-the-top nature that initially attracted her to him as being someone she could really get along with. And the more she got to know him, the more enlivened he made her. His confidence and excitability acted only like an igniter to her own. And not once did he question her eccentricity - always either embracing it or trying to surmount it with his own - which pretty much topped him on her Awesome People to Hang Out With list. And the more they did hang out, the more she realized she liked him; but there was never a defining point in which she realized this, it was more of an unspoken progression. She loved that they could do anything anywhere at any point and easily make it the best time. And they didn’t need to excuse themselves for anything they did or come up with some validation for what they were going to do; dude, they were America and Rikku and they could do whatever they damn well pleased.
Of course, there was the awkward point where she realized her flirting and comfort with him was at more than just friend level and that freaked her out. She hated how nervous and jittery it made her and just how unbelievably weird she felt just thinking about him. It was tense and alienating and not at all like what she was used to.
As of right now, Rikku still has no idea how to make that smooth transition from best friend to girlfriend. But, to be honest, she's pretty relieved her confession to him was as awkward and fumbled as it was because now she knows he's seen her at her most vulnerable and the fact that he accepted it without cracking jokes (too soon for that) shows her he can be a serious and safe addition to her life. Plus, there's the assurance that it will get easier, and with as much as she feels for him (and trust me, it's a lot) she's really looking forward to seeing where they go. Because they make a damn good team. Don’t let her down.
Notable Pros: - Has that blonde-hair, all-around Al Bhed look to him - His self-confidence rivals Rikku's, which is a lot of fun - Will eat anything - Has good taste in girls - Super great body - Totally hot - Like, really hot - Did she mention looks, yet? - Really sweet, even if some people don't see it - He can (and will) be as loud as he wants - Always impressed by her gifts - Took her on the best First Valentine's Night Date ever - Adventurous - A hero! - Made a pretty hot girl - His trust in her - Is super-duper old
Notable Cons: - Watch yourself on the petnames - A little bit pervy, but what guy isn't, really? - Doesn't get her Spira jokes. Frowny-face.
