Actually you generally end up with someone around you level of attractiveness. (This doesn't mean you chances of dating a supermodel are shot, but very slim... like a supermodel.) I'd wager that 'beauty' falls into a normal curve among all populations. That means 68% of the world's population is 'average' (within one standard deviation) while 16% is above average and 16% is below average. If you want to go one step further, only 2.5% of the world's population is very beautiful, while 2.5% is really ugly. Finally, at three standard deviations, .15% of the world (9.7 million people) are extraordinary beautiful and .15% are so ugly their mothers don't even recognise them.
But everyone wants to be a beautiful and unique snowflake... At five standard deviations (basically beyond the very lines of the curve), only .00003% of the world is 'ZOMG haaaawt' beautiful (1945 people) while somewhere out there are 1945 people who are so disgustingly ugly that they have to hide on Internet forums (like this one).
Therefore, the next time you look in the mirror and feel ugly, just remember that there's millions of people uglier than you!
