So class (art as interface) lets out early this morning, my professor emits defeat to the super-computer that the school has wired to everything in our class (computer, lights, projector, and camera overhead). I’m surprised it doesn’t control our seats and forcibly straps us in (the walk out rate in this class is unruly); or even better, there’s an opening under our seats so that when someone comments stupidly (which happens constantly) the floor would open up, Mr. Burns Style, and force these commenting fools into a sea of angry rap-rock bands that don’t exist anymore.
Halloween weekend was indeed filled with the greatest of moments. The g-ville party went off like no other costume party I had ever been to. I guess it was the first real Halloween college (party) experience. I suppose because in the years before, it landed on a day of the week. I recall my first year of college and on Halloween we had a hearing test in my Intro to Music class. I had all this Gregorian chant, Harpsichord, and other musical ensembles to remember. I remember driving towards the school(it was a night class) watching all these little people running in their costumes (jealous of them of course) and me in my car trying to keep all these assortments of music in my head. Though the drive was short, and I aced the test, that moment of looking at all the kids slithering through the dark always sticks out in my mind. Consquently, it was nice to plummet into the highest degree of intoxication, have the best time meeting strangers, seeing great costumes, and waking up to nothing more than friends, food, and laughs. However, I do have to admit that there was a moment, the following morning that should be forgotten but the result of it happening I can still feel in my calf. Damn you Charley and Your Horse. I wonder were that name started? I should look that up.
I’ve recently purchased two new cd’s which I am happy I bought because this downloading thing can sure get out of hand. When Seth(the music store employee…GET TO KNOW YOUR LOCAL MUSIC STORE GUY) said 26. 57 I didn’t even faze to think about the groceries or GDA membership dues; I just drop the money and skipped along jolly and gay for I had two new cd’s. I enjoy having the liner notes to read; I like to touch the graphic work and see the new innovations in cd booklets. What I have noticed is that bands are pushing the graphical genius of their cd’s because junkies like myself will find more than reason to purchase the cd. The new Mates of State has an entire fold out that you are to fold into that classic origami figure that everyone made in elementary school; it consisted of picking a number and then a color; not sure of the name. The music is right off Mates of State but with far more experimentation and I can’t wait to see it preformed live. The new Shins album is crazy good because it just can be played in any setting. I rock it over and over; I suppose its short nature does that but I’ve made a space for it in the top ten of the year.
In the coming weeks I have so much to accomplish I haven’t a clue why I’m not knee deep at the moment with ideas for my Comic book for Digital Rhetoric and a rebuilding of an old website for Digital Principles. The comic book deals with building a narrative about Usability and Interface Design. I’m supposed to communicate effectively how a model (product, object, anything digital) goes through the digital watch: affordance, constraints, and mapping. I have a few ideas like the paper clip from Microsoft’s Office that annoys any sane individual. However I want something far more fun and something that will meet the 22 page requirement. (the gears are turning)
Oh well …start, I must …but not before doing it up chubb style and getting some lunch…
