Walking out side, one might sense the current season summoning out to its successor with its cool mornings and refreshing twilights. Consequently, cold weather causes the cells in my brain to scurry in joy and allowing for a quick smile on my part. Yo La Tengo says that it’s the “season of the shark” and who am I to refuse.
Tonight was supposed to be like any other show id been to in the past, but this one truly took the twinkie on shows for this school year, as far. (so many bands yet to scream for in the most juvenile ways….”rock out, with your cock out” as the gentleman so politely screamed at mogwai….must give the man some props for an act of such courageousness in front of indie peers….they could have easily taken his indie privileges away…what would he have done with all those chucks and bandanas? Hmmm? ). Speaking of the chucks, I think I must give in to the chucks at least once in my adult life before im forty and realize I missed my opportunity because of my logic that I once had every color as a kid and don’t wish to have to humiliate all who bear the sign of CHUCK TAYLOR on their shoe because the shoes look so damn coolio on me. (hahah…ya right …flat foot city…*one tear*) If I do choose in the near future, I’m looking at pink or red to bring out the color in my eyes.
So back to the amazing show, boy….what can one say after one grand main set and then two encores. The dampness of my undergarments should be suffice to explain its genius. Drawn out spazz riffs, countless songs with the use of bongos, casios, moog, synthesizers, bass, multiple drums, and phenomenal vocals( AND NO LAPTOP!), all in unsent create the goodness I feel. The content, unlike the form, is tough to explain because in my head and in my heart it will forever wander. The experience is so internal that words will spiral its meaning to something far more than verbiage could explain.
So with my inadequate explication, I face the season of the shark …..”HEY, HEY. HEY!”
wish all could have made it to this show….but the tpa peeps will indeed show a good time to the good people in Yo La and Aisler Set. Both groups can get the booty shaking and hearts pumping…... IndieWorkout Videos? I think they would go perfect with some punk ones as well…..*IDEA*………..”I’M HEAR TO PUNK YOU UP!” “I LIKE YOU CINDY!” ……oh Arnold…..can you win California already…I cry for another ass in charge…especially one who has faced the toughest of acting roles…..the kindergarten teacher!
