Book 44 was "Duma Key" by Stephen King. Now, adarkjewel and weirman are both Stephen King fans, and I had liked his early stuff but thought he fizzled as he got more famous. I asked for recommendations, and this one was among the ones I received.

Verdict- I enjoyed it.

I did think that some of the dialog with one particular character (wireman) was forced as no one says "muchacho" that much or uses phrases like "he's buttering what used to be your muffin", and if they do- thank god I don't know them. Other than that, the story was entertaining and not all that predictable. It was good enough to give ol Stephen King another chance when my library gets some more in stock.
