i suppose it's time for my monthly update

work is getting slow. they've asked people to cut down a day a week for the summer, which i signed up for. an hour later, after i did the math, i realized i'd be missing ~$400 a month. i know that extra $400 usually goes to frivolous purchases like clothing, shoes, beauty supplies, etc that isn't really necessary. i figure being on a strict budget for the summer will be tough, but it will teach me to be better with my money when i go back to 40 hrs a week. plus i won't be so burnt out anymore. i can read books outside on the deck, get more housework done every week, do crafty things i've been meaning to do, & actually work out more than twice a week.

the crafts will be difficult since my sewing machine is finicky. thinking about selling it & buying a better one used, or go back to hand sewing. it really depends on how much i can sell mine for and how much a better one used might be.

i wonder what other hobbies i can pick up this summer? maybe more bike rides? play my bass again? go on long walks? master some sort of skill like origami? start the arduous task of learning how to draw all over again? obviously they can't involve too much money. i just don't want this extra day off to be an extra day for me to do nothing but sit on the computer and procrastinate, i always end up angry with myself when that happens.

things with joe are going well. we've been grilling lately, which has lifted the responsibility of cooking from me. i like that. him being on day shift has been nice as well. we crawl into bed at 9pm with the cats, and we sleep. unless the cats start fighting or being pesky, then they get booted out of the room.

okay, it is time for me to do some cleaning. my allergies have been horrible this past week, and the only thing i can really do is make sure not too much pollen builds up in the house. i am already taking zyrtec-d twice a day, which is making it hard to stay awake as well as stay asleep.
