Um... *waves!* Hello! I'm Paxie, mostly a lurker, but I'm popping out today with a fic =D; I got into Whooligans after seeing
snuffykin's dolls (and making myself a small army of them) and it's apparently worked it's way into my subconscious. I work up at 4:30 this morning to write out this fic, so please forgive me if it's terrible.
Title: Small Comforts
Rating: G
Disclaimer: Doctor Who belongs to the BBC and Whooligans belongs to
jesidres. I just borrowed them =D
Characters: Ten, Chibi Ten, Ari Jacobs (My OC. Please Don't Murder Me)
Summary: Post Doomsday (Pleeeeease don't muder me!), Ari meets and comforts a chibi
Warnings: Mentions of Doomsday and mild spoilers for my fanfic series. Not that anyone needs to worry about that last one, but if there's something you don't understand, that's probably why.
Ari had been hearing strange sounds around her room for quite sometime and was now fully convinced that someone or something was watching her. It wasn’t like the Shrub Monkeys of Dresden Four, thank goodness. As far as Ari could tell, it was someone who was just very, very curious. And she had a pretty good idea of who it was.
“Alright you,” she said kindly, sitting down on the floor next to her bed. “I know you’re under there. Come on out, I’m not going to hurt you.” She heard a rustling under her bed. “I’ve got cookies.”
“Meep?” Ari watched as a small head poked out from under her bed, soon followed by a small body. A Chibi Body. A Doctor Chibi body that was looking very hungrily at the package of Thin Mints in her hand.
“Jack told me about you,” she said, handing the tiny Doctor a cookie. “Something about Hello Kitty’s from some planet, I wasn’t really paying attention… you could have come said hello sooner, I don’t bite.”
“Meep…” the Chibi Doctor replied sadly, nibbling at his cookie, which was almost half the size of his head.
“…It has nothing to do with me, does it?” The Chibi shook his head. “It wasn’t that you didn’t want to meet me… you just miss Rose.” Chibi Doctor nodded sadly, letting out a soft whimper. “She had a Chibi too, didn’t she? Is she gone…?” Another nod. “Oh… I’m sorry…”
It was about then that awkward silence began. The Chibi wiped his eyes on the back his hand, sniffling slightly. Ari hadn’t meant to make him cry, really she didn’t…
“You know,” she said slowly, taking out her pocket watch. “This may not help much, but… I’m missing someone too.” Chibi Doctor looked up at her, eyes wide with surprise. “Would you like to see?”
“Meep!” He nodded eagerly and climbed up into her lap. Ari smiled a little as she opened up the watch. On the inside of the cover was a picture of a slightly younger Ari with a young man about her age. Black haired and brown eyed, the young man had his arms around Ari, who was leaning back against his chest. Both were smiling.
“That’s my Julius,” Ari said softly, tears welling in her eyes. “He died… oh, I don’t know how long it’s been anymore… but it feels like yesterday, you know what I mean?” Chibi Doctor nodded, snuggling close to Ari as he continued to nibble his cookie. She smiled at him, pulling him into a warm hug.
“Meep?” he asked, looking up at her.
“I know I’m not Rose,” she told him. “And I’m not trying to be… but if you ever need a hug or some cookies and tea… or just to talk, you know where to find me, alright?” Chibi Doctor nodded, hugging her back.
“Meep!”
Standing just outside the door, unbeknownst to both inside, was the full size Doctor. He’d been there for a while now, just listening to the two of them. The Chibi Doctor had been sulking around for ages now and the Doctor didn’t know if he’d ever snap out of it… not that he had any room to talk, but that was a different matter entirely. He couldn’t help smile as he heard Ari try to comfort her tiny new friend… but he couldn’t help being sad as well. She may have found a way to cheer up the Chibi…
But he had no idea how he’d ever cheer up her.
Please don't murder me =D;;
