Found A Dog: Part 2

Aug 07, 2005 09:36

This is a follow-up to the post I wrote about the dog we rescued from two guys dragging him down the street by a truck.

We surrendered the dog to the last vet we found, who said they would bandage his wounds and they would be forced to give him over to animal services. With no other options, Amanda and I did what we had to do and left him with the vet.

I wasn't aware that the Animal Services here (Tampa) give all of their animals (I think unless they're chipped) 3 days before they put them down. For two solid nights I had nightmares about this poor dog. After seeing how was already treated by his former owner I couldn't bear the thought of him being put to sleep after all that has happened to him.

After two days we went back and went through the adoption process. I had found someone who wanted the dog. Who, in turn, became entirely too half-assed to fulfill this responsibility of taking care of the dog.

Here's a little fact if you deal with animal services - when they use the term "release date", as in, "the animal's release date" that doesn't mean the day the animal will be released and you can pick him up, his "release date" is the day they kill them.

While I was out of town, my friend Amanda and my mom (Thank you guys!!) dealt with getting this pup adopted and put in a home. Well, the person who is supposed to take care of him isn't capable of taking care of him, because, well, jail doesn't allow you to have pets.

So, once again I'm looking to find someone to adopt this dog. I've paid for all of his shots and neutering. He's being looked after at a friendâ™s house being fostered. I have to get a picture of him, which is what I'm waiting on so that hopefully I can find someone out there that would like to show this dog what love is like. When I get his picture, I will post once again.
