We've been kind of dead lately. And I have been a very lax mod, for which I apologize. I still don't have a laptop, which sucks, but I make do. I've moved twice since the last time I did an admin post, and I am happy to say that my new place has a business center onsite so even when my local college is closed for the semester I can still have a sizeable chunk of time online on my days off.
So what I'm wondering is this: is there anything we can do to bring life back to this community? The last few things we did didn't have a lot of participation, and I know school has started again for most of us, but I want to do something here. So what would you guys like to see happen? Another contest, maybe one with a long entry period and few rules? A mini bang if you feel like writing a longer fic (I'm thinking 7K minimum)? Bringing back the monthly character/episode prompts? A gift giving exchange for Christmas? Another friending frenzy? I'm open for any type of suggestions you guys might have.
I am planning a challenge for Halloween, possibly. I'm going to think about it for the next week and figure out how I want to do it and what prompts to use. So if I decide to do it expect details on Monday.
Also! I want to make a rule change. In order to foster discussion on this community, I'm going to update the rule about what you can post here. Since we have the 50th anniversary and Matt Smith's departure coming up at the end of this year and season 3 of Sherlock at some point after that, I want us to be able to talk about them. So while fanworks still need to have at least one character from the Whoniverse and one character from Sherlock, discussion and other non-fanwork posts can be on each show individually. Want to have a squee post for the 50th special? Go ahead and make one. Want to speculate on how everyone coped with Sherlock's absence? Ask your fellow Wholockians for their theories. Have a contest or community for one show or the other you want to promote? By all means, let us know about them! Anything that isn't a fanwork of some sort that only deals with one side of the crossover is perfectly fine now.
