Fireflies and oneness!

Jun 20, 2011 09:08

We've missed you, old friends!  In the interim, I (Beth) have been away on my first week-long silent retreat at Southern Dharma, with teachings in the tradition of Thich Nhat Hanh.  While there, an unexpected treasure:  Fireflies that light up in synchrony with each other!   After dusk, when pure darkness has come, you walk up a small incline to the creek; there in that sparkling dark hollow, thousands of fireflies.  They are all lighting up at once, and all going black at once.  On--twinkle, twinkle, twinkle---  Off-- silent dark---  On--twinkle, twinkle, twinkle---

What a reminder that we are, really and truly, absolutely interconnected!
Did you know, you can bring your tent and sleep down there by the creek.  That's what I plan to do next time.
Oh!  And I saw a blue-tailed salamander!  www.flickr.com/photos/studiesinsolitude/3796515764/
$75 per night included accommodations in the lodge and 3 daily meals (Donna's vegetarian cooking that is out of this world)!
